Pete Partin is an artist, author, and motivational speaker. Pete, a long-time resident of Roanoke, Indiana, is a graduate of Indiana University. Although he has spent a significant portion of his career in Information Technology, several years ago, he started feeling compelled to share his story.
Pete’s artistic journey began in December 2019 when he picked up a paintbrush for the first time in over 40 years. Raised in an abusive home, he was instilled with crippling self-doubt and a spirit that had been beaten and broken down for much of his life. Pete managed to survive, and in 2015, he met someone who changed his perspective, attitude, and outlook forever. Sam Glenn, who paints and does motivational speaking, became a friend and mentor to Pete. With Sam’s support and encouragement, Pete finally conquered his fears and began his artistic journey.
Pete’s first painting did not turn out the way he wanted and, in his opinion, was not very good (he has subsequently learned that beauty is in the eye of the beholder). He could have given up at that point and walked away, but something inside told him to stick with it and keep trying. Wanting to find his voice and style, Pete was determined to make his own mistakes and learn from them. Pete improved with each new painting and became a better artist. When he fully committed to becoming an artist, author, and motivational speaker, he felt something unlock inside him, and his creativity started to flow. Each new piece chipped away a little of Pete’s self-doubt until he could finally step back and be proud of his creations.
